At the core of european car magazine
are the owners compare cars and builders of tuned platforms. With the end of the year
knocking at our door we thought it time to reflect back on those select
euro builds presented in print during 2014.
Below you will find, in no particular order,
personal staff favorites, ranging from full-out supercar builds to
people movers and upgraded retros. As you will see the european car staff has diverse tastes – which are your favorites?

Choice 1: Sean Myers’ 1988 BMW e30 M3
Reason: “If I had the time and
money, I would be building something like this as we speak. I grew up
trying to catch every glimpse of 90s DTM I could find. At the time, the
internet was barely existent and YouTube or torrents weren't even a
glimmer in a nerd's eye; DTM was as exotic as it got to a American car
fanatic. This M3 brings all those feelings rushing back. While I think
e30s are getting to that point where you really have to weigh a factory
correct restoration next to a performance build, I'm glad Sean went the
way of the latter.”

Choice 2: John Mendoza’s 2011 Porsche GT3 RS
Reason: “This is close to how I
would build a GT3 if I had the funds. I had a 911SC in white, with a
full cage and racing seats, so this would feel like home to me. I like
the clean simple approach to tuning, the admission that the factory does
things really well and sometimes you need to leave things alone. There
are certainly faster 911s out there, but that doesn't make them better.”

Choice 1: Joseph Galante's 2008 Mercedes-Benz CLK63 AMG Black Series
Reason: “Kudos to Galante for
taking something super rare and fearlessly pushing it to race car
extremes. Stunning good looks, 670 ponies at the rears, and killer
customization (Clear trunk floor! Blown diffuser!) - what’s not to
love?”

Choice 2: Stan Chen’s 2014 BMW 328i Xdrive + James Camarador 2007 BMW 328i
Reason: “We’re not too proud to
admit we love wagons, and these two are as fresh as they come. It’s a
bit of a cheat to pick one story about two cars, but if we had to choose
between them it’d be Camarador’s M3-aping E91 – so baller, he has two
different sets of E88s for his grocery getter.”

Choice 1: Dennis Tang’s 2013 Audi S4
Reason: “This is another one of
those shoots that I had the chance to be a part of. Alex Bernstein and I
hopped in this RS4 Converted S4 at 7am and drove out to the middle of
nowhere for this epic photo shoot. We drove this beast over 400 miles in
one day and it gave us ZERO problems. You gotta love a car that’s built
that well.”

Choice 2: Marco Svizzero’s 2008 BMW 135i
Reason: “I love this car for
two very simple reasons: 1) Big things DO come in small packages and 2)
Euro’s always get extra points in my book when swapped correctly. This
little 135i was transplanted with a heart of a lion. Instead of trying
to extract the most amount of power from the 3.5 Turbo engine, the owner
decided to raise the badass level and put in a 4.0L M3 V8! An ASA
supercharger then bumped power to 600hp. Add to that a killer cage, and
some epic Recaro’s and you have my dream Euro build. On top of that,
everything works: A/C, radio, TC, etc. Hurry up and take my money.”

Choice 1: EAS 2011 BMW M3 & 2008 BMW Z4 M
Reason: “Twin Alpine White M
Cars + ESS Superchargers Kits + JDM Wheels + RECARO Seats = The Ultimate
Cleanly-Modded driving machines that I would rock on the street and at
the track.”

Choice 2: Warren Goodman’s 2014 Audi Q5 TDI S-Line
Reason: “This Q5 is a testament
to having your cake and eating it too. It’s a cleanly modded Euro that I
would proud to cruise and roll-up in, plus giving me the utility for
all the outdoors and family activities….I’m Sold!”

Choice 1: Vorsteiner Lamborghini Aventador
Reason: “I’ve always wanted to
go to space and the Aventador looks like it can take you there. I love
Lambo: from white Countach to SV Diablo. This year I had a chance to
track one of these $400k hypercars, under instruction, and it blew me
away. Add in Vorsteiner carbon aero and forged wheels and this car can’t
be ignored. Ballin’.”

Choice 2: TopSpeed Motorsports’ 2011 Audi R8
Reason: “Driving a racecar
on the street is fun…but at some point after logging the miles creature
comforts take larger priority. This wild R8 looks as fast as it is but
also retains an upgraded stereo, backup camera and AC. It strikes a
tuner-centric balance between white-knuckle excitement and date night
cruiser
